HST on the air
Highspeed telegraphy on amateur radio bands within Europe has a long tradition. Since the early 1950s the communtiy of the fast Morse-code is very active on the amateur-radio bands. The activity increased with the founding of the Radio Telegraphy Highspeed Club (HSC) http://www.highspeedclub.org/ in 1951 and the Radio Telegraphy Very Highspeed Club (VHSC) in 1961.
Highspeed telegraphy on shortwave takes place exclusively in the form of plain-text conversations read by ear (rag chewing). The most common speeds range around 200 leters per Minute (BpM - Paris base). Most QSOs are being made with the native language, just because highspeed in a foreign language limits the speed. That`s because an additional translation thought process inhibits the desired flow. Many QRQ-friends can be found on the following amateur-radio frequencies: 3567 kHz, 5353.8 kHz and 7024 kHz.
Participants of HST championships can be found regular on the amateur-radio frequencies, communicating on Morse-code with other radio-amateurs in "normal" contacts or within contests, operating with their own callsign or from a club-station.
